Does the Career Center Charge for their Services?
Can I visit Mt Sierra College to interview students?
Absolutely! We can actually assist with scheduling the interviews for you.
How soon could I expect to see candidates after I request the opportunity to interview students?
We will do our best to have candidates for you to review within 24 hours.
How often are Career Fairs held at the campus?
We can host an employer spotlight for your company at any time. We believe it is a much more effective approach to your time to have prearranged interviews for you instead of asking you to spend 4 hours to sit at a job fair and collect resumes. We prefer to do the work for you.
Students and Parents
How can I get help with my resume?
You can arrange an appointment directly with your Career Services Advisor, request an appointment through the student portal or email your resume to email@example.com.
Is it possible to work while attending school?
Yes absolutely it is possible. It can be challenging to balance both school and work. We recommend getting accustomed to being in school before starting a job along with school.
Are there jobs available at the campus?
Yes! We have Student Worker opportunities in various departments that include: Student Services, LRC, IT, and Tutoring. You can apply to become a student worker week 6 of every term. Applications can be picked up in the LRC. You must have a resume, letter of recommendation, unofficial transcript and have been in school for at least one term.
I really need at least a part-time job while in school, can Career Services help?
Absolutely! Please contact your Career Services team and we will do our best to point you in the right direction to look for part-time work as well as help in preparing you for your job search.
What do I need to do to prepare for my first meeting with Career Services?
You will need a rough draft of your resume and an idea of what you enjoy doing and be open to discussing options and coming up with goals to help you achieve the end result you deserve.
I don’t know if I am prepared for the interview, can Career Services help prior to the interview?
Yes we conduct mock interviews one on one with students all week long. We also can arrange to have you practice a panel interview with multiple interviewers as well as multiple interviewees. The more practice you have the better you will feel when you are paired up with an employer that you truly want to work for.
I got the job! What do I do next?
Spread the good news with your Career Services Team. We love to hear about all of your successes. You also want to plan for the future, the changes you will need to make in order to balance both school and work and want o be sure that you are ready to manager both. We are here to help.
What are the hours that Career Services is available?
We are open Monday-Thursday from 8am-6pm and Fridays 8am-5pm. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment.
Do I need an appointment to see the staff in Career Services?
We require everyone to schedule an appointment to ensure that we have availability to see you when you come by.
I was just interviewed, what should I do next?
After any interview you have you should always get a contact to follow up with. You want to be sure to send a thank you note within 24 hrs of the interview. Preferably a written thank you note. You should also contact your career services team to go over your interview experience and so they can follow up with the employer.
What are some of the things I should do while attending that helps my resume or interview stand out with a potential employer?
Become involved in as much as possible within your industry of study. Work an internship or work many throughout your time here at college. Become involved in industry events, volunteer, give back and network, network, network!
