Dean of Academic Affairs

Job Description

The Dean of Academic Affairs is responsible for the academic curriculum of the institution, providing leadership to the faculty and managing the processes through which teaching is conducted and administered at Mt. Sierra College. The Dean insures that the curriculum appropriately reflects the mission of the campus and that it is as current as possible in terms of disciplines, technology, delivery, and oversees the hiring and training of educational faculty and staff.

List of Responsibilities
  • Working closely with the Campus Director, contribute to and implement the Institutional Vision of the College, and insure that the Educational Philosophy is executed;
  • Supervise all matters relating to curriculum and instruction in the College, including outreach and extension courses, online courses, and scheduling;
  • Oversee faculty and academic staff recruitment and development activities;
  • Develop active and effective Program Advisory Committee;
  • Provide advisory recommendations to the Campus Director on all academic appointments, and promotion matters;
  • Act as chief liaison between the College and accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies on all academic issues;
  • Oversee development and implementation of academic strategic planning;
  • Work with Department Chairs to evaluate faculty, assess classroom effectiveness, and correct observed deficiencies through training, counseling, or disciplinary action;
  • Coordinate with the Registrar to develop and implement Academic policies and procedures, and insure compliance with regulatory statutes and accrediting requirements;
  • Establish priorities and plans for program development, faculty recruitment and development;
  • Provide academic input to institutional enrollment management efforts;
  • Coordinate periodic academic program review and work with Department Chairs in the review, study, and development of curriculum and in the improvement of instruction;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Campus Director;
  • Work with Department Chairs to create quarterly class schedule that meets student needs while remaining fiscally responsible;
  • Coordinate scholarship policies and disbursement with Dean of Students and others;
  • Provide leadership in the development of the College’s Distance Education program;
  • Develop relationships and articulation agreements with related industries, businesses, colleges, universities and high schools;
  • Perform administrative tasks such as budget control and processing requests for information regarding the instructional program;
  • Develop and implement programs and services that promote student success;
  • Chair of the Instructional Council;
  • Ensure compliance with board approved annual Budget.
Qualifications

Education/Experience

Master's degree is required, a Doctorate degree is highly desirable; and four to ten years related experience.

Language Ability

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

Math Ability

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word software and Excel spreadsheet software, understanding of development software, and Internet software.

  • Monitor department and staff compliance with applicable regulations and standards throughout all aspects of the enrollment process, including interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems

Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Performance Objectives

The Director of Financial Aid has primary responsibility to oversee the administration of the College's financial aid processing, including federal, state, institutional, and private sources of grants, scholarships, work study employment and loans. The Director is the primary point of contact for new/continuing students with complex issues regarding their financial aid package, verification, satisfactory progress, or other related issues.  Ideal candidate will demonstrate progressive leadership, team work and administrative effectiveness in a financial aid office.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • In addition to basic FAA duties, the FAD will also:
    • Supervise Financial Services Team (including FAA’s) and assign responsibilities

    • Ensure proper disbursement of Federal funds and completion of verification
    • Oversee all Professional Judgment and Verification issues by conferring with Support staff and CFO
    • Awards and reports all College Work Study
    • Audits and certifies all files for each start date including verification of all exit interviews conducted
    • Handles all Cal Grant reporting and eligibility information
    • Manages refund calculation process
    • Meets weekly with School Director and Director of Education to verify all changes of status and takes appropriate actions to rectify student records

Description

The primary role of the Admissions Representative is to selectively prospect, interview, recommend and enroll individuals into a qualified career-focused Mt. Sierra College education and guide the prospect through the enrollment completion process

Teach courses in Media Arts & Design, including, but not limited to, Game Design & Gameplay, Level Design, 3D modeling and animation, Digital Imaging for Games, etc.

Coordinate and develop the Media Arts & Design program, technology, and facilities, specifically the Game Arts concentration. Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized and timely manner.

Job Description

Mt Sierra College is seeking an Online Instructional/Course Developer experienced with developing online courses in Media Arts and Design, as well as other programs. The Online Course Developer will work independently as well as collaboratively and on cross-functional teams that include other course developers, subject matter experts, faculty, program chairs, and the Director of Online Education.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, other course developers, faculty, and program chairs to develop online courses, creating the visual and auditory components of lectures and lessons using design skills and tools, as well as the development of multimedia-rich learning environments. 
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, other course developers, faculty, and program chairs to develop online courses, creating the visual and auditory components of lectures and lessons using design skills and tools, as well as the development of multimedia-rich learning environments. 
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, faculty, and other members of the online team on the design and development of instructional content, graphics and multimedia elements for delivery of online instructional content.
  • Work independently or in a project team to complete assigned development projects from conception to launch.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Online Education
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2+ years experience working with higher education supporting faculty to develop online courses
  • A keen understanding of design and software education for the development of cutting-edge media for online instruction of design theory and tools required
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and complete projects within stated deadlines
  • Familiar with Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as eCollege, Moodle, Blackboard, Desire2Learn, etc., a plus
  • Developmental editing experience a plus
  • Proficient on the Mac
  • Working knowledge of the PC a plus
  • Expert in the following software:
    • Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Flash, Final Cut Pro, QuickTime Pro
  • Expert in the following skills and competencies:
    • HTML, CSS, Illustration, Digital Imagery, Typography and Layout , Video Editing, Problem Solving
  • Proficient in the following current software/programming:
    • Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Entourage, Maya, DVD Studio Pro
  • Proficient in the following skills and competencies:
    • Drawing, Illustration, Digital Imagery, Web Development (HTML), Web Design (CSS) Web Development (Flash), OSX Maintenance, Video Production and Post-production, Sound Production, Animation, Design Theory, Design Process, Communication, Analog and Digital Organization, Research, Concept Design
