INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Mt Sierra College is proud to accept qualified international students. Applicants who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States and wish to study in the United States will need to apply as non-immigrant (international) students. Non-immigrant students are governed by the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS). USCIS provides information on becoming a non-immigrant student on their website at http://uscis.gov. The United States Immigration & Customs Enforcement website at www.ice.gov is also useful. To support our international students, the College offers assistance from the initial inquiry through graduation. International applicants must meet the basic admission requirements to the College as explained in the preceding sections. In addition, international applicants must meet all USCIS requirements. Mt Sierra College does not offer English language services, nor does it provide English Language Learners instruction. All instruction occurs in English.

Admission Requirements

  1. A completed Mt Sierra College international student application for admission form
  2. Application fee: $50 USD (Non-refundable)
  3. Registration fee: $100 USD (Refundable)
  4. Official high school transcript and a color copy of diploma: Official high school transcript or equivalent indicate a GPA of 2.25 or higher (Foreign high school transcript and diploma: English translation required)
  5. Official college/university transcript and a color copy of diploma (if applicable): Official College/University transcript or equivalent (Foreign College/University transcript and diploma: English translation and foreign transcript required)
  6. Passport
  7. VISA/I-94 form: For transfer students only
  8. All I-20 Forms from previous schools attended in the U.S.
  9. Statement of financial support: Official document of financial support demonstrating a minimum of $49,500 USD in available funds
  10. Proof of English proficiency This may be met by one of the following:
  1. Official results for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of: Internet-based individual test scores of at least 45, Paper-based individual test scores of at least 450
  2. Official results for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum total score of 4.5
  3. International Test of English Proficiency (ITEP) with a minimum score of 3
  4. Bertliz Level 6
  5. An official transcript showing successful completion of the Advanced Placement International English Language (APIEL) exam with a minimum score of 3
  6. An official transcript from an accredited program certifying successful completion of an advanced English as a Second Language (ESL) program
  7. An official transcript showing completion of a minimum of 18 quarter credit hours of substantive undergraduate level academic courses with a cumulative grade point average of 2.25 or higher at an accredited postsecondary institution where English was the language of instruction
  8. Graduation from a foreign high school where English is the language of instruction

Mt Sierra College is authorized to issue USCIS I-20 certificates upon fulfillment of the requirements listed above, enabling international students to obtain F-1 Student Visas. The F-1 Student Visa will be valid as long as the student is continuously enrolled as a full-time student, submits letter from Sponsor’s bank each Academic year, remains in good academic standing, and shows satisfactory academic progress. Full time enrollment is defined as enrollment in 12 or more credit hours per term. Mt Sierra College is required to notify the USCIS should an international student cease to meet these requirements at any time.
