Department Information (Academic Adjunct Faculty)
The Media Arts Department offers a four-year curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. The curriculum prepares students for an entry-level generalist participation in video game development and 3D animation centric facilities. Our students will experience a balance of 2D and 3D studio art, art history, graphic design, photography, critical theory, and a general education in liberal arts.

Position Description:

An adjunct position teaching courses in Game Arts and Design at Mt Sierra College. Experience with all the aspects of the 3D modeling, asset creation, material, lighting, and rendering production process.

Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Expert knowledge of Photoshop, Maya, and Z-brush, 3D Coat, Marvelous Designer or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge in high-poly models, model efficient low-poly meshes, and author high to low asset bakes and sculpting
  • An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette regarding modeling. Superior eye for light, shade, color, and detail in creating texture maps of different material types UV, Texture, and Material Creation
  • Expert Knowledge in all industry stander PBR software; such Quxiel Suite, Substance Designer (or equivalent programs)
  • Advanced understanding of generating normal maps from high poly models and capable of creating realistic materials
  • Ability to adapt the curriculum and to utilize diverse instructional methods as well as materials required in delivering course material
  • Motivated instructor with an engaging and an outgoing personality

Lab exercises include creating and manipulating objects using popular object-oriented programming and scripting languages.

The Media Arts Department offers a four-year curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. We are seeking an experienced Game/ IT Programming instructor to join the team as adjunct faculty!

Position Description:

An adjunct position teaching courses in Game Arts and Design at Mt Sierra College. Provides an introduction to the art of level design. Students will use cutting edge game engine technology, as well as analyzing existing games in order to gain an understanding of what is expected of them as an industry level designer. The course integrates both game and environmental design in order to create a functional, playable game level.

The Game Play and Game Design course analyses the current theories and methodologies of video game design. Students will explore how to designing appropriate mechanics, dynamics, and aesthetics; implement challenges and win/lose conditions; control players’ pacing and progress; and create effective player engagement in their games. Emphasis is on pre-production development and processes.

Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Experiences in creating GDDs (Game Design Documents)
  • Industry experience in gameplay systems (e.g., player controls, game rules, scripting, weapons, AI)
  • Experts inusing level editors (e.g., UDK, Unreal Blueprints, Unity) and/or 3D content-authoring packages (e.g., Maya, 3DS Max)

VIDEO EDITING / MOTION GRAPHIC INSTRUCTOR

Department Information (Academic Adjunct Faculty)

The Media Arts Department offers a four-year curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. We are seeking an experienced graphic video editor/ motion graphic instructor to join the team as adjunct faculty!

Position Description:

An adjunct position teaching courses in Game Arts and Design at Mt Sierra College. Provides an introduction in the history, technology, and design of motion and the graphic image. Working with scanned images, graphics, text, and video, the process of developing a motion concept will be emphasized to produce complete motion sequences. Projects may include title sequences, commercials, TV bumpers and news graphics and other motion graphic applications. Lab exercises will be conducted to prepare students for the larger portfolio projects.

In addition, provide an overview of non-linear video editing technologies, equipment and production techniques; instructions in principles of video production through demonstrations and hands-on production. The production techniques that are explored include the use of the camera, lenses, lighting, and sound equipment. Editing procedures and techniques in the post-production phase are fully examined and practiced.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • Strong background with experience in storyboarding, narrative sequence, audio, and non-linear video editing in Aftereffects and Cinema 4D or Maya
  • Experts in industry-leading software tools with emphasis on classic animation principles and workflow.
  • Experts in time-based motion graphics, typography and logo motion for broadcast, web, and mobile platforms

Position Description:

An adjunct position teaching courses in Game Arts and Design at Mt Sierra College. Provides an introduction to explore, but will not be limited to, the digital aspects of photography. Photography is studied for its functional and aesthetic values, and for its role in the world of art and design. Emphasis is placed on the creative approach to picture taking and making. Students are introduced to many types of photographic styles and techniques. Hands-on control of photo equipment and techniques, experimentation, problem-solving, and portfolio development are critical to the course.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or greater in Photography or a related area plus a minimum of 4 years related work experience

ADJUNCT ART HISTORY INSTRUCTOR

Mt Sierra College seeks an adjunct Art History instructor for our General Education department.
Recruitment Period: Now until filled

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation of interactive, innovative, and multi-modal approaches of teaching
  • Response to student inquiries in a timely manner
  • Provision of substantive and ongoing feedback to students
  • Maintenance and enhancement of the quality of teaching in the program

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree related to Art History
