3D MODELING CREATION INSTRUCTOR

The Game Arts and Design Department offers a four-year curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. The curriculum prepares students for an entry level generalist participation in video game development and 3D animation centric facilities. Our students will experience a balance of 2D and 3D studio art, art history, graphic design, photography, critical theory, and a general education in liberal arts.

DESCRIPTION

An adjunct position teaching courses in Game Arts and Design at Mt Sierra College. Experience with all the aspects of the 3D modeling, asset creation production process, including

  • Expert knowledge of Photoshop, Maya and Z-brush, Mudbox or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge in high-poly models, model efficient low-poly meshes, and author high to low asset bakes and sculpting
  • An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette regarding modeling. Superior eye for light, shade, color, and detail in creating texture maps of different material types UV, Texture, and Material Creation
  • Expert Knowledge in all industry stander PBR software; such Quxiel Suite, Substance Designer (or equivalent programs)
  • Advanced understanding of generating normal maps from high poly models and capable of creating realistic materials
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to demonstrate initiative

Minimum Requirements:

  • For studio-based courses, applicants are required to possess an MA, MFA, or a BFA; comparable professional-level experience may be considered. Each successful candidate must have at least two – four years of professional experience in a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in game development or film production in modeling and texturing 3D assets using Maya, 3DS Max, and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)
  • Exhibit a current active online portfolio that is representative of the focused industry career.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from academic colleagues or professional.

GRAPHIC /VISUAL DESIGN ADJUNCT FACULTY

DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of the Dean, faculty delivers class and/or clinical instruction according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective teaching methods; develops daily lesson plans; advises and tutors students; maintains current and accurate attendance and grade records; remains current in applicable program teaching field; participates in faculty meetings, instructional seminars and in-service training sessions. Participates in school activities such as faculty meetings, student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, new student orientations, and advisory board meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction

  • Delivers curriculum in accordance with approved syllabi, according to program objectives and required contact hours for courses taught.
  • Employs appropriate instructional methods and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students and modifies where appropriate to meet diverse students’ needs.
  • Observes and evaluates students’ work to determine progress, provides feedback, and makes suggestions for improvement.
  • Encourages the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.
  • Presents lectures and conducts discussions to increase students’ knowledge and competence, using visual aids.
  • Supervises independent or group projects, field placements, laboratory work, or other training as necessary.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors and records daily class attendance and grades according to established procedures and deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited business college with a Master’s degree in the subject matter or a closely related area.
  • Four years of teaching or closely related professional experience OR a minimum of six years’ experience in the E-Commerce industry.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Earned a doctorate degree.
  • Extensive knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes to be taught, instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
  • Extensive knowledge of evaluation of instruction, curriculum development, program development and evaluation.
  • Thorough knowledge of appropriate field of study and thorough knowledge of counseling and advising techniques.
  • Experienced in modeling cultural proficiency and commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice.
  • Proven record of contributing to a supportive team environment.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include knowledge of Excel and skills in Social Media.
  • Communicate with confidence and clarity.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

In addition to the above qualifications, the preferred candidate also has knowledge of or previous formal study of a second language and experience living or studying overseas.

SALARY RANGE

This position is a non-tenured academic appointment hired on a quarterly renewable contract.

ADJUNCT FACULTY – ENVIRONMENT SCIENCE / BUSINESS DEPT.

DESCRIPTION

Mt Sierra College seeks application for a pool of outstanding faculty should an opening arise. Screening of applicant is ongoing and will continue as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of interactive, innovative, and multi-modal approaches of teaching.
  • Response to student inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Provision of substantive and ongoing feedback to students.
  • Maintenance and enhancement of the quality of teaching in the program.
  • Attendance at adjunct faculty meetings, professional development, and trainings.
  • Prepares instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, exams, mock-ups, visual aids, and instruction sheets) as necessary.
  • Instructs, manages, and supervises individual and groups in classrooms, laboratories, and shops using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Evaluates instruction and learning by means of appropriate testing methods.
  • Maintains a student-oriented approach to education.
  • Recommends students for advancement and graduation.
  • Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.
  • Coordinates cooperative work experience programs and students as assigned.
  • Assists counselors, department chairperson and or program coordinator, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program.

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours related to Environmental Science.
  • Four years of teaching or closely related professional experience OR a minimum of three years’ experience in the Environmental Science discipline, such as research and development, quality assurance, production, and bioanalytical work.
  • Must have hands on experience teaching biological lab courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Environmental Science, Biological science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry courses with an emphasis in laboratory components.
